A Quick Transformation by Purusha K. Radha continued from Home Page
When I became pregnant I was grateful to gain 40 extra pounds and I hoped I could keep some of that weight after my son was born. Within a week after the birth, like magic I was back to my previous size. I gave up and resigned myself to accept that I would always be thin.

The years leading up to menopause came and I distinctly remember two women telling me one night that I would most definitely gain weight during that time, a lot of weight. I was slightly excited. And it did happen. I got what I had always wanted but a little too much of it. Isn't that interesting how when we get what we've wanted for so long, we no longer want it?

I could say I gained 40 pounds overnight. It certainly seemed that way, but it took a few years.  Now I had the interesting experience of being able to identify with people who are overweight. I couldn't bend over like I used to and breathing while doing it was more difficult.  Running felt like I was a blob of blubber thumping step by step on acutely hard pavement. None of my clothes fit me and I felt I looked frumpy and fat in any new clothes I did buy. I kept saying, next week I'll start working out, I just need to get some exercise.  And next week became next week and so on. I would see thin women out in public and think, I used to look like that, if only I had that back!

Then on January 21 of this year I made an "about face" with my food consumption and this is when I realized that at least for me, it wasn't so much about how much food I was eating as what kind of food I had been eating.

In two quick months, I lost all 40 pounds and returned to my former svelte self which I had so come to appreciate. I had myself back again! The amazing thing is that I didn't change my eating lifestyle to lose weight.

I did so to clean up and losing the weight was a major added bonus!

I completely stopped eating and drinking the following: gluten, corn, potatoes, sugar (including evaporated cane syrup, the new buzz word on health food labels), soda, animal flesh, dairy products.  Although corn and potatoes are considered gluten-free, they are now all Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and I wanted to cleanse my body of all that so-called experimental science.  The salt I use is high vibrational Himalayan salt purchased online at American Blue Green.

I also eat strictly organic so my food is much more nutritious and pure.  Eating out is now taboo for me.   I cannot trust or believe that the food, even if prepared from scratch, in mainstream restaurant kitchens is free from GMOs, regular salt, sugar and the ever so dangerous gluten. (Europe presently does not allow GMO farming and will not import food grown in America.)

I make everything from scratch including things like mayonnaise which I make from almonds and olive oil. Yes, it takes more time but it's fun, creative time and I feel so much better now about what I am feeding my son.

I know many reading this will feel they don't have time and that is definitely a valid concern. You have to weigh what is more important to you. If it's your survival and you might like to stay out of doctors' offices and hospitals, you can creatively find the way to make a shift like this.

What I learned is this.  Not only had I come to begin eating emotionally, the poor quality and poisonous nature of the foods I was eating were starting to wreak havoc in my body.  Most people head down a collision course with diseases that end their lives and as I observe people placing foods they feel are nutritious in their baskets, I realize they are killing themselves and don't know it.  We have given our blind trust (and our hard earned prosperity) to the food manufacturers and growers and in turn, they take our money, abuse their workers and give us crap for food.

You see, big corporations like Monsanto have us by controlling our food supply.  (If you control the food supply, you control the population.) Corn, potatoes and wheat aren't what they used to be decades ago.  They are all aberrations of their former selves, GMO contaminated, and most of us don't even question it.  They will only cause destruction in your body.

Take your power back.  Do the research.  Refuse to be controlled and basically forced to eat what can do nothing but harm to you.  Join a high integrity organic food co-op, connect with a group that can help and support you, grown your own food in your backyard and scrutinize your food labels.  Let your physical transformation be a catalyst for transformation in all areas of your life as it has mine.  May my profound experience give you encouragement and remember, we all have the power to change our lives!
